It has been two days since six-year-old Adji Desir went missing and deputies say there is still no sign of him. The Collier County Sheriff's Office suspended Monday's ground search at dusk, but a helicopter with an infrared device was still searching after nightfall.
Desir has been missing since Saturday evening when his relatives reported him missing.
Monday afternoon, Collier County Sheriff Kevin Rambosk issued a plea for all available citizens to help find Desir.
The sheriff asked volunteers to go door to door handing out fliers and is asking all residents to check their property for Desir.
Deputies also were be back at Immokalee Community Park at 321 North First Street giving out fliers on Tuesday from 10 a.m. to noon. Again, volunteers should bring ID.
Monday morning, 150 deputies from around south Florida joined the search for Desir.
Deputies from Lee, Charlotte, Glades, Hendry and Miami-Dade counties joined the search Monday.
Collier deputies have expanded the search area from four miles to eight miles. On Monday, the search is only being conducted by ground because of visibility issues.
They also followed up on a handful of tips they've received from the public. Deputies are hoping for more tips to come in because one of the lead detectives in the search for the missing boy appeared on CNN Monday night, on Nancy Grace's show between 8:30 p.m. and 9 p.m.
This is good media coverage Nancy Grace will show this a lot on her show. She has a very soft spot for children. With her help and the help of other this sweet baby will be found and soon I HOPE.

the need to do an amber alert i bet you if he was white it would of been did since saturday the day he went missing

Your comment is ignorant and uncalled for, all missing children are treated the same by the NCMEC. It is not a black or white thing or a rich or poor thing.

I agree with CJaye - this is a very ignorant comment. His story has been on the Nancy Grace show continually since he went missing. No one cares the colour of skin, a missing person - a MISSING CHILD is still missing and would be even if they were green.
PS: Your English grammer SUCKS (your quote: it would of been did since saturday)!!!

I want to know why this is not being covered. This baby needs to be found and the more people that know about the better his chances are. The media needs to jump on the band wagon and help find this baby!!!

I agree with CJaye, you have not looked. I am in Canada and I have been hearing about this missing child since he went missing - mostly on the Nancy Grace show. Glendene.

They cannot issue an amber alert unless an abduction is suspected.
I too am sickened that I have not heard of this until today, Tuesday, and he has been missing since Saturday.
The law needs to be changed, so that children with disabilities can have an amber alert issued for them if they go missing. My daughter is 5 and autistic, and it is fear I live with daily. However, our county has provided us with a project lifesaver location device for my daughter. www.projectlifesaver.org

It doesn't matter what the child's disabilities are Amber alerts a still issued. Where are you people getting your information? The reason it wasn't heard of is because of the family. It wasn't reported for almost 20 hours after the child went missing the mother didn't know until she got home from.

According to the Nancy Grace show, he was reported missing one hour after the grandmother had last seen him. They looked for him themselves for 30 minutes prior to calling authorities.
I agree with you that an Amber Alert is issued for all missing children. I am on the internet constantly and I did not hear about this until last night during the Nancy Grace show. I think that this needs to be ran at the bottom of TV screens like they do with bad weather and school closings or interupt televisions for breaking news reports first in the state that the child went missing and then again outside of the state maybe an hour later. My only problem with this is that I would wonder if this would bring the crazy people out, like child molesters just to find this child and then it really is a kidnapping.
I have been watching for something to be on my home page when I open internet explorer but I had to actually search for his name before I found anything. This child has been missing since Saturday. I know that the police do not believe he was kidnapped but you never know. It may not have started out that way but could have escalated to it at anytime. I live in Ohio, which is approximately an 18 hour drive from Florida. He could be anywhere by now so I believe that there needs to be more done to get this out there. God bless this little boy.

According to the Florida Police his mother wasn't notified until she came home from work several hours later. Who really knows, maybe someone was scared they were going to get in trouble for not watching the child. (other children) Maybe they didn't go to the grandmother right away.

ACCORDING TO NANCY GRACE THE BOY LIVED WITH HIS GRANDMOTHER THE MOTHER WAS AT WORK. GET A LIFE AND STOP COMMENTING ON EVERYTHING PEOPLE SAY. IF YOU CAN HELP WITH THE SEARCH THAT WOULD BE A PLUS. I LOVE NANCY GRACE I KNOW YOUR NOT GETTING YOUR INFO FROM HER.

I agree, more needs to be put out about Adji. I have been following other missing children cases and seen 1,yes only 1 little clip on Nancy Grace about Adji. I as well hope to God this not being put out more has nothing to do with race, but am beginning to wonder... This baby needs airtime too just the same as all these other kids are getting. look at the coverage Haleigh,Caylee,Amber and others are getting and look at how long Adji has been missing. sorry, calling it how I see it. You can call me names all you want like you did the other posters, will not change the facts.

Yes, he was on AMW and NG had a bit on him again thanks to dedicated people who follow these cases and contacted both everyday asking why he was not getting mentioned.Asking for him to be mentioned and get his face out there and keep it out there.
