ROBBERY TURNS TO TRAGEDY IN MADRID

Police officers in Madrid are investigating he circumstances that resulted in a Young man, aged somewhere in his 20´s, being killed having been struck by a car and becoming wedged underneath.

The death of anybody is tragic, but this particular incident has an unusual twist, in that shortly before the fatal collision, the victim had robbed a woman, said to be in her 30´s, of her handbag, fleeing the scene on a motorbike with an accomplice.

The woman who had just been robbed in the street, decided to give chase in her car. At a rather steep curve on avenida Santuario de Valverde, the motorbike driver is reported to have lost control of the vehicle, skidding for around 20 metres and slamming into oil-type drums.

The pillion rider, who was the one who had allegedly enacted the robbery, was left in the road after the loss of control, and was run over by the pursuing robbery victim.

The body of the male was stuck underneath the vehicle, requiring extraction by the fire brigade. An ambulance crew could only confirm the death of the man at the scene. The female driver was treated for a panic attack, but the motorcycle rider fled the scene, believed to be injured, and is now being sought by the police.
