Robert Pattinson has revealed he is desperate to please his fans, but fears he disappoints them.

And the 'Twilight' star has even revealed that making his fans happy is the only reason he became an actor in the first place.

The 23-year-old British actor, who plays sexy vampire Edward Cullen in the hit movie, said: “You see all these people that surround you and you think that one way or another you have to please them.

"I want to please them. They are the reason I get to do this job I just worry that I don’t please them - but I don’t know what they want.”

And it seems Rob has always been desperate to please!

If he hadn’t become an actor, he said he would have been just as comfortable strolling the corridors of power.

"In school, I wanted to be a politician. I just liked the whole idea of it. I wanted to be involved with politics."

But it sounds like Pattinson, currently filming 'Twilight' sequel 'New Moon', is going to need to muster all of his political skill to survive the new super-breed of diehard fan he has to deal with.

He added: "One time there were these four girls - in Chicago I think - and they had all scratched their necks until they bled, and then when they came up to me they had these bleeding scabs. It was gross."

Clearly these bloody-minded fans were not put off by Pattinson’s apparent lack of hygiene, or his rumoured attachment to ‘Twilight’ co-star Nikki Reed!
