The BC Court of Appeal has upheld the convictions of Robert Pickton on six counts of murder.

During the Pickton appeal, lawyer Gil McKinnon argued that the convictions should be overturned due to several mistakes by the judge overseeing the trial. McKinnon said that the judge erred during the main charge to the jury, the response to the jurors’ question, amending the jury charge, fact evidence, and Pickton’s statements to the police.

The Crown has stated that if Pickton's convictions are upheld, they will not proceed with a new trial on Pickton's 20 remaining murder counts.

Pickton's lawyer may also appeal to Canada's Supreme Court.

Pickton was convicted of the second-degree murders of Sereena Abotsway, Mona Wilson, Andrea Joesbury, Georgina Papin, Marnie Frey and Brenda Wolfe.
