A Hydrogen Tank Explosion Near Rochester International Airport Closed Main Runway

13Wham.com reports that the situation is now contained, but that the explosion caused the main runway of the airport to be closed for about an hour and a half.

The explosion took place at Monroe County Green Alternative Fueling Station when a truck was being re-fueled. The truck driver suffered first and second degree burns when the truck's tank exploded, and a female fast food employee from a nearby Burger King was injured when she leaned out the window to see what had caused the explosion.

The area around the airport was evacuated. No flights were allowed in or out of the airport during the incident. The main runway is back open at this time.

Route 390 is open at this time, but Scottsville Road and Paul Road are still closed due to the explosion.

This is all about "Green".....and the super explosive nature of hydrogen. We need a serious disccussion as to whether this "Green conversion to hydrogen" was really a good move. P.S. I think we were lucky!!
