ROCKEFELLER Formally Identified by FBI as German National

The identity matches the birth certificate obtained by the Herald earlier this week in Gerhartsreiter’s hometown of Bergen, Germany. That certificate lists him as being born on Feb. 21, 1961, at 11:10 a.m. in a town hospital.

Four fingerprints were used by FBI forensic investigators in Quantico, Va., to expose Gerhartsreiter. Two prints were taken from police bookings in Boston and Baltimore, another from a wine glass taken from a friend’s house in Boston and, finally, a print was discovered on an immigration document Gerhartsreiter submitted when he was a foreign-exchange student in Connecticut three decades ago.

Gerhartsreiter is accused of kidnapping his daughter, 7-year-old Reigh “Snooks” Storrow Boss, on July 27 in Boston. He was arrested six days later in Baltimore, where he was hiding with the girl under one of his many aliases.

He is also a “person of interest” in the 1985 disappearance of a California couple. Gerhartsreiter is being held on charges of kidnapping and assault and may now face additional charges of giving a false name to police.

Immigration officials said Gerhartsreiter is in the country legally, but he is not an American citizen. They would not divulge if he has filled out any IRS forms.

As for his income while in the states, Boston police Deputy Superintendent Thomas Lee said, “I think he married his money.”
