NP Rank:
A Roll Call Nomination at the DNC
An article at Wcco.com states in part:
CBS News chief political consultant Marc Ambinder reports that Clinton had resisted pressure from donors, allies and supporters to accept demands to allow her name placed in nomination, but she and aides to Obama seemed to realize independently that doing so would be the best way to incorporate and welcome Clinton's supporters into Obama's general election campaign, both symbolically and practically.
Senators Obama and Clinton's campaign offices released this joint statement today, August 14, 2008:
Since June, Senators Obama and Clinton have been working together to ensure a Democratic victory this November. They are both committed to winning back the White House and to to ensuring that the voices of all 35 million people who participated in this historic primary election are respected and heard in Denver. To honor and celebrate these voices and votes, both Senator Obama's and Senator Clinton's names will be placed in nomination.
"I am convinced that honoring Senator Clinton's historic campaign in this way will help us celebrate this defining moment in our history and bring the party together in a strong united fashion," said Senator Barack Obama.
Senator Obama's campaign encouraged Senator Clinton's name to be placed in nomination as a show of unity and in recognition of the historic race she ran and the fact that she was the first woman to compete in all of our nation's primary contests.
"With every voice heard and the Party strongly united, we will elect Senator Obama President of the United States and put our nation on the path to peace and prosperity once again," said Senator Hillary Clinton.
Senator Obama and Senator Clinton are looking forward to a convention unified behind Barack Obama as the Party's nominee and to victory this fall for America.
Senator Barack Obama, the Democratic presumptive nominee, will be officially named the nominee of the Democratic Party at the convention.
This action is meant to assure Senator Hillary Clinton's place in history is secure as the first woman ever to advance during the Democratic presidential primaries as a viable candidate for President of the United States of America.

What a terrible gesture and thing to do. You know he drove the stake into her heart and now he's throwing salt at her. He's not a man, he's a cheapshot. He could have given the Democrat's a real 16 year future, but he chose himself instead, before the people. In my opinion there is no nominee for the Democratic Convention... The only decent choice is Ralph Nader.

This action has been clamored for by Senator Clinton's supporters and delegates, a move, it has been reported, that Senator Clinton saw as one that would act as an impetus towards a cathartic healing.

And now with Hillary's approval you claim makes her nothing more than a shill, a pill, an ill thrill hand me down Honorable Mention poke. It's a laugh, a card, a jokers draw, a poigniant reminder that women are always duped and fooled, slammed, and damned, taken for a ride, and made to believe they did her a favor. And so why not have Bill Clinton be the nominee as well? Because he spoiled the marriage, cheated the office, fondled the merchandise, and cemented his glory in the liars club already. Bring us together in a spirit of War? A man at the trigger instead of a dame? Who now to forget and disgrace except Geraldine and Rev.Wright? Obama has lost, remember his cause.....to beat up the women and bring spilled blood to us all. He'll pledge his hand to Violence and promise to unleash the dogs for the cause.....the cause for America's continued WAR on the World, and its people.

Whatever your point is here, there was a process, of which both Senator Hillary Clinton and Senator Barack Obama were aware when they began their respective campaigns over a years ago.
A winner emerged after a long, hard fought, primary season.
The idea you've put forward elsewhere at another thread, as I said before, that Senator Obama should, even now, after being named the Democratic Party presumptive nominee, step aside and give his nomination to Senator Clinton was and still is ridiculous.
at 06:53 on August 15th, 2008
Why is it ridiculous Karen? Why is it ridiculous for one or the other being the others VP? All this leader picking and voting ends up always that the people end up losing. Tell me one concieveable administration that has not fallen to some scandal or disgrace, or war? I can't seem to find one. Something wrong here! WHoa! slow down the ponies! Ridiculous to go on believing these punk politicians are doing anything decent for the people. They are about themselves,.....like you are about yourself Karen. Don't think about the people first? What is ridiculous about that? TELL ME.

I have addressed your stance on this issue at the above linked comments thread, at my previous response to you here.
I will no longer engage you on this topic.

Who wants to drag the Clinton Baggage around with them. Obama is smart to look elsewhere. The Clintons are still pushing and pulling strings to get airtime at the convention. It would be gracious for them to fade and allow Obama to cose the adjenda and not have the clintons pushing all of their family rmembers on the speaker list.. my gosh.. the Clintons kid seaking at Obamas convention... who is the nominee anyway.
The snakes are going to come out of the bag at the Convention, Karen, just wait and see what type of low life political animals the Clintons really are.

One thing's for sure, Al, with all the expected drama, viewer numbers for each night should be through the roof, everyone wanting to see what happens, a political soap opera of sorts.
at 18:29 on August 25th, 2008
Oh, and Biden doesn't have baggage? Gimme a break. Obama is a coward, otherwise he would have selected a woman as his running mate. He is no Kennedy, but rather a wannabe that falls short. He is worth ending my association with the Democratic party. So over the boy's club.
at 05:42 on August 26th, 2008
I don't recall Senator Obama saying he was a Kennedy. The late President John F. Kennedy's daughter, Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg, offered her praise of him as someone that inspired others as did her father.

Well Rev. Jermano since she does not want to talk to me, I might as well talk to myself. You know it is not ridiculous. Yeah I know. Obama just is not a gentleman, or a man of the political times. But he might change. Yeah anything is possible. He has no outlook for the females in our society who work and do things that no man could ever accomplish. He is afraid to lose to a woman. That is the only reason. Good golly mate he lost to a woman, what kind of a man is that? Right dj. ..you hit it on the nail. Kindergarten stuff. Did I spell Kindergarten right? Yeah don't worry.
It is kid stuff. And frankly Americans don't know the diff, because they are really stunted in their intellectual thinking. Especially Obama who dupes into their thinking instead of his own, and being an example of what kind of a leader we want for America. Stand tall, and be above the nonsense. Be polite, think of others before yourself. Give more and see what happens. You think you are a loser for doing that? That is ridiculous right? Nah Rev. Hang ten.......Doing for people before yourself is a Godly act...and it gains great admiration in the eyes of the Lord and the people. They won't forget..... Yeah from birth woman are always giving and giving, while the men are always taking and fighting. It's about time we did some more giving here. This isn't about patriotism....this is about uplifting the people in need, not building more banks for the rich to stash their trinkets in. Think of all the money the rich have collecting moth dust in their register of hoarding accounts. Yeah I know.....the more they get the more they want.
So Obama sucks that up right? Yeah he thinks that is how to be. Then when you get a lot of money you can hire servants that carry guns, and now you have an army, and can attack anyone you want, and no one will challenge you because you have all the money, because money is what makes the laws right? No money does not make the law. That is the problem Rev. You're telling me. So how to educate the Rich guys we call criminals? Lord I am asking you? How to get this change? St. Francis of Assis has this quote..... How does that go? For it is in giving that we receive. No not that one....but thats pretty good.......No one is to be called an enemy, all are your benefactors, and no one does you harm. You have no enemy except yourselves.....Yeah ....but not that one....but that's pretty good too....Let me see.... Above all the grace and the gifts that Christ gives to his beloved is that of overcoming self.
That's the one. Rev. thanks..your're welcome DJ. See you..

Do you actually believe Mr. O is in control? Hillary is going to look way better. She is setting up for the 2012 election against John McCain.
at 10:38 on August 15th, 2008
The Democratic Party is in control of all of the events that have happened thus far. All areas regarding unity or conflict are the result of the Party's rules enacted and rulings delivered. Whatever occurs will occur as a result of the decisions made by the Party.
at 12:17 on August 15th, 2008
You're funny. You know what happened to your man. Bill and Hillary put him back in his place. They are planning on winning in 2012. They do not want Mr. O to win.
at 12:34 on August 15th, 2008
Senator Obama is still the presumptive nominee and will still be named the nominee of the Democratic Party at the Democratic National Convention in Denver.
The Clinton Team has created a set of circumstances that require some form of rectification.

What do you think about Vince for VP?
That is Vince the ShamWOW guy. They both have similar convictions of concern for the well being of the public. What a team.....

Karen Hatter, I like this story. It's good stuff. The DNCC just came out today with a modified speaker list. It includes Hillary (already on list) Bill and Chelsea. My as well call it the Cinton Obama convention

djermano, I'm actually quite shocked at your comments and your suggestion that Nader is a better candidate.
In the race for "lesser of two evils" I'd say it has to be"
Obama
Clinton
McCain
Romney
Nader
In that order
at 16:45 on August 17th, 2008
I disagree. Nader is the only one willing to at least cut back on military spending.. http://www.votenader.org/issues/military-budget/
I would prefer a Nonviolent Candidate that would roll back and eliminate the military budget. But they make sure no such living person gets the chance.
Actually Hillary and Obama are the same....simply put Militarists and supporters of Murder.

Someone sent me a letter trying to keep me from voting for Obama. It is supposed to come from CNN, AARP, Washington Post, Fox News and Washington Post. In part it says that Obama will restore the inheritance tax, double taxes by reversing the Bush tax cuts on people only making $4,500 to $31,250, new taxes on homes more than 2400 square feet (mine is smaller), would pull troops out of Iraq immediately, socialize the health care, against guns ownership, start new programs that would cause a huge increase in taxes, is abortion throughout pregnancy, against English being our official language etc. I found this stuff hard to believe...there are half truths through out the article but the way it is written is so misleading. I am not as educated as the person that sent it. How do I respond without appearing angry even though I am burning.?....
at 22:08 on August 27th, 2008
Hi, Linda. In this case, it would seem no response is needed. At first glance, it appears many of the things listed here in your comment are distortions and untrue.
I would suggest that you explore Senator Obama's official website, www.barackobama.com, for answers on his positions and some of his plans.
Most likely the coming weeks leading up to the November election will provide more insight into these issues.
