I is very simple LTTE was defeated because they were numerically samller group than the Sinhalese. In Sri Lanka, the majority sinhalese by their sheer dmographic force got political and as a consequnce military power within a legal democatic framwork and hence a diplomatic influence to garner a good name internationaly...all these plus points take source from one point : favourable demgrahic equation.

Therefore, Prabakaran the LTTE cheif should have began his struggle by encouragin Tamils to increase their population and the bedroom front would have brought a victory more silently than all guns on the battlefront.
