The district administration has taken several security measures and additional police forces have been deployed for strict enforcement of Section 144 CrPC during Gandhi's Pilibhit visit. Security forces have conducted flag march in the town.The Election Commission had already transferred the DM and the SP of Pilibhit besides suspending the ADM and the ASP. Chief Electoral Officer Anuj Kumar Bishnoi told reporters in Lucknow that the Commission got some inputs regarding alleged distribution of money by him and it has sought a report from the district magistrate in this regard. He said as directed by the EC, two separate FIRs have been lodged against Varun Gandhi.Varun Gandhi, has filed a petition in Allahabad High Court seeking to quash the FIR lodged against him. He also moved the Delhi High Court for anticipatory bail.

N Gopalaswamy further said, "We have seen the video. The video was not taken by us. He has said that the tape is doctored. It is for him to prove this," Gopalaswamy told reporters at the Raj Bhawan in Kolkata.On what action was being contemplated against Varun, he said, "We have already taken action." When asked whether Varun, who is to contest from Pilhibit in Uttar Pradesh would be allowed to do so, Gopalaswamy said "at the moment the question does not arise, we will look into it when nomination starts."To a query whether action would be taken against the BJP, the CEC said the Commission would decide on it after the party filed its reply to the notice.
