The meeting took place in the Commonwealth Parliamentary Office here for about one hour, 30 minutes longer than planned by the Australian government.
Hassan Wirajuda after the important meeting with Kevin Rudd told Indonesian journalists that the two sides discussed closer relations between the two countries.
Wirajuda in his three-day visit was accompanied by Indonesian ambassador to Australia and Vanuatu TM Hamzah Thayeb, including Indonesian Foreign Ministry spokesman Kristiarto Legowo.
Indonesia always attached importance to a more intensive integration of Australia in Asia, especially in East Asia.
Thus, since the very beginning, Indonesia supported the participation of Australia, New Zealand and India in the East Asian summit which led to ASEAN plus six. The six countries are Japan, South Korea, China, Australia, New Zealand and India.
ASEAN groups Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines and Vietnam.
The meeting also touched on how to follow up on the results of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) held in Bali in December 2007, which was laid down in the Bali Roadmap.
