Running out of suicide bombers
Eventually something has to give: 1) run out of suicide bombers, 2) Iraqis run out of patience.
It is up to the Iraq government and local people to police their population. Profiling the likes of insurgents, al Qaeda, Taliban, and others is not that difficult.
When government and people are aligned, they can expose the enemy from within.
Isn't that the goal?
“Iraq: Blasts kill at least 16 in Baghdad area
At least 16 people have been killed in Iraq in a series of bomb blasts in the Baghdad area, officials say.
Dozens of others were injured in the attacks - mainly roadside or car bombs - which took place during the morning rush hour.
The deadliest attack took place in Taji, north of Baghdad, when a suicide bomber killed at 10 people.
Violence in Iraq has dropped since the height of the insurgency five years ago, but almost daily attacks continue.
Police said there were at least 14 bombs of one sort or another, with five of them apparently aimed at a police station in southern Baghdad while others had no apparent target, the BBC's Jim Muir says.
The attack in Taji took place while policemen were investigating an earlier car bombing. Seven of the 10 fatalities were police officers.
Our correspondent says that violence appears to have increased since the death of Osama Bin Laden in early May, but says that such a spate of explosions in such a short time is highly unusual.”

Until the USA changes its foreign policy I can't see terrorism ending. The war on terror just makes things worse.

The policy that needs changing is energy and resource management. The USA has the capability and resources to be energy independent. If we did that, we would not be in the Middle East. If we were not projecting ourselves around the globe in pursuit of scarce natural resources and focused on self sufficiency, there would not be so much imposition from our quarter on other cultures.
That does not mean that inhospitable cultures could last forever without conflicting with freer cultures. It does mean that there could be a reduction in hostilities, IMO.

There's no running out of stupid. If there was ever such a possibility, the US, after years of invention, and reaching one of the highest standards of living and opportunity, wouldn't have thrown it all away in a race to the bottom.
