First let me say that I have branded this report as "Opinion" because I know not everyone is of the same mindset on this one. How that could be I am not sure. I believe that the headline is more than deserved and this is not the first time.

-- A Democratic official rebuked conservative commentator Rush Limbaugh on Friday for suggesting a health care proposal will be named in memory of Sen. Edward Kennedy, who is battling brain cancer.
On his radio show, Limbaugh said President Barack Obama's proposed health care revisions will be championed by "the liberal lion Teddy Kennedy.""Before it's all over, it'll be called the Ted Kennedy Memorial Health Care bill," Limbaugh said.Brian Wolff, executive director of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, called the remark outrageous and reprehensible.

In 2006, another remark totally out of the blue and off the wall about someone else with a debilitating disease that is life altering is brought to mind.

"He is exaggerating the effects of the disease," Limbaugh told listeners. "He's moving all around and shaking and it's purely an act. . . . This is really shameless of Michael J. Fox. Either he didn't take his medication or he's acting."

Later Monday, still on the air, Limbaugh would apologize, but reaction to his statements from Parkinson's experts and Fox's supporters was swift and angry.

"It's a shameless statement," John Rogers said yesterday. Rogers, Fox's political adviser, who also serves on the board of the Parkinson's Action Network, added: "It's insulting. It's appallingly sad, at best."

The only person who could trump Rush is Ann Coulter.
The two of them together, Rush interviewing Ann on her book "Guilty", is an unbelievable experience. Here is a portion of the transcript.

RUSH:  Okay.  So where did the idea for this book -- what did it start out to be?  Do you do an outline?  Do your books end up as you envision them when you start them?

COULTER:  Not at all.  I do all my own research, and suddenly, you know, you'll find interesting things where you weren't expecting to and you won't find interesting things where you thought you were going to.  This was going to be more on specific victims.  I mean it started with authentic victims in America, the blacks.  There really was slavery, there really was Jim Crow, but then you have all these pseudo-victims, fake victims glomming onto the black story, illegal immigrants, the Muslims, the gays, my favorite victim group, wealthy white women living in Scarsdale who were bored being housewives -- that's Betty Friedan victim -- but then as I was writing, it was during the 2008 campaign, and of course the biggest victimizers of all are the media.  They are the only attack machine, and yet they create villains, they tell these morality tales and there's always a villain and a victim.  By the way, you are a big villain in these morality tales, but of course what they're trying to do is create an atmosphere of contempt, what they're doing to me now, but at least I can then come on the Rush Limbaugh Show.  I can't believe you did this without a Rush Limbaugh Show for you to go on.

RUSH: (laughing) So what you mean here when you say that the victims are really the victimizers --

Does it appear that this is a recurring theme? Is kicking people when they are down the new theme of the conservative movement?

Well if Rush's popularity with the ultra concervative elements of the Republican Party is any indication, maybe it is. It appears however that they may be hitching their horses to the wrong wagon.

Congressional Republicans have turned to Rush Limbaugh to lead the battle against Obama. One problem: A poll says he's less popular than Jeremiah Wright.

Limbaugh is so unpopular that only 44 percent of Republican voters reported "warm" feelings toward him, ten points less than those who felt the same way about Limbaugh's top competitor, Fox News' Sean Hannity, and a full 20 points lower than Fox News itself. Yet in spite of rock-bottom favorable numbers, Limbaugh confidently declared one week after Obama's inauguration that his power far exceeded that of the Republican Party's top two leaders in the Senate and House of Representatives.

I truly hope this is not a conservative movement. I hate to think that any segment of the population in the United States believes that attacking people  on their life threatening illnesses, and getting away with it because they are celebrities or politicians, is a way to win some rightious battle. I think that the "ends justifies the means" attitude has been proven time and again to lead nowhere good.

Before and After pictures but the before is questionable. I think it might always have been a version of the after. Thanks so much duo for the comedic relief on this one.

"First let me say that I have branded this report as "Opinion" because I know not everyone is of the same mindset on this one. How that could be I am not sure. I believe that the headline is more than deserved and this is not the first time."

Even if we all agreed, it would still be an opinion. It is an evaluation that cannot be objectively verified because no on can ever prove himself to be objective. Social psychology 101 teaches us this.

If a person is really interested understanding the opposition, it would mean coming to terms with his own subjective aspect, being able to see the beam in his own eye. For example, he would have to come to terms with the way the left's demagogues simply mirror the right's demagoguery. Even if one side were worse than the other, there would still be no excuse for the self-indulgence of one's own side.

So, if you can see this in Rush, what prevents you from seeing this in an Olbermann or the Air America types?

Ted Kennedy shocked us all by letting that Mary Jo Kopechne drown, running away and lying about it later. Yet he still ran for president.

Yes, Rush's remarks were in poor taste, but so have been many of the acts of one Ted Kennedy, a man who cannot hold a candle to his brothers.

I agree with you on the two sides of the coin, Roy. Thank you for reading and commenting. I do want to point out this is not only about what Rush has said about Senator Kennedy but also about Micheal J. Fox and others. He is a man with bad taste.

Oh by the way, I do see a lack of objectivity in Olbermann and others who are very far to the left or right. Extremes do not breed objectivity.

Distasteful comment from an unsavoury character.

Thanks for your post. Well put together and a pleasure to read. Your words found just the right tone....

I wish someone would just kill this guy and all the other people that are fanning the flames of America's two halves for their own gain.  Freedom of speech is one thing, but freedom of misinformation (slippery slope territory)?

And not just him.  Anyone who gets in the way of how great America can be.

Really, what do you think the founding fathers would have done?  How far is too far?  When do you draw the line and decide you're going to war?

I think that politics is a dirty game, these people have no decency or moral standards, we must realize they are a society of elitists. There are many politicians that have Rush Limbaugh trait these type of people are on both sides of the political fence.

When the snake oil as ran out because an election is over these un-moral corrupt beings start to show their true colors. It buggers belief that this nasty being has been nominated as the representative of the republican party. I expect there are more of his type on the right wing than on the left. It really shameful that people like this can pay their way into politics or are appointed by a cooperate puppet master.

American politics sucks I feel sorry for Kennedy but in truth he is not pure in heart when it came to moral standards. But this remark from Rush Lambaugh was completly unwarrented and can not be watered down, he ment the nasty insult that render from his ugly mind and lips.

I agree that Ted Kennedy is not an innocent but this story is not about him. It is about Rush and his remarks about the Senator, Mr. Fox, his agreement with MS Coulter on her "Guilty" book and other things too numerous to print. However you point, is taken and not disputed. Thank you for reading and commenting, Babel-Fish.

C'mon, babelfish, the only people who have nominated Rush as leader of the Republican Party are Democrats.
And it seems that more Dems than Repubs are listening to him.
I only see or hear him in these stories.

Barry Artiste

But ya know people listen to his show, and that further fans the flames unfairly because of his love of one particular political party, thereby painting an entire political party with the same brush.

The man is clearly a drugged out looney. I am sure many in the Republican party think so as well.

I believe you are correct. I believe he is hiding behind partisan rhetoric but his extreme conservative beliefs and agenda are beyond what is the norm in the Republican party. I should say, I hope that is so.

Why Rush Limbaugh Is Toxic For America

1. Rush is Against Labor Unions.

2. Rush is Against Increasing The Minimum Wage.

3. Rush is Against Laws that would Enable Workers to Receive a Greater Share of the Profits They Help Produce.

4. Rush is Against Expanding Medical Insurance to Cover Millions of Uncovered Americans.

5. Rush ridicules Homeless People who own Cellphones.

6. Rush ridicules Homeless People who say they and their families would rather live in a Home than in a Car.

7. Rush believes that AIG executives should keep the $165 million in bonuses they received from taxpayer bailout money, and

he is outraged that the government might try to take these bonuses back.

8. All of Rush's sympathies are with America's wealthiest 2%, and he scorns and ridicules the poor and the homeless, whom he derides as America's "Losers".

9. Rush deceives his Dittohead followers into supporting tax policies that are radically skewed in favor of America's Top 2% and against the financial interests of the Dittoheads. Very few Dittoheads earn over $250,000 a year, or have estates in excess of $10,000,000. Yet, Rush persuades his Dittoheads to vote for income and estate tax policies that favor the Super Rich -- helping the Rich Grow Richer -- while irreparably harming people who earn less than $250,000 a year, which includes virtually all of his Dittoheads. Rush convinces them to vote against their own economic interests by using sly propaganda phrases like the "Death Tax" instead of the "Estate Tax". It's not a tax on Dying -- it's a tax on large Estates. Rush is the Dittoheads' own special Fifth Columnist and Trojan Horse.

10. Rush is a White Racist. Virtually every time he tells a "joke", it is a racial putdown of blacks, Hispanics or some other minority. Deliberately confusing the names of "Barack Obama" and Rush's fictional African leader, "Barack Ogabe", is the latest example. Or, opining that the media gave football Quarterback, Donovan McNab, "a lot of credit he doesn't deserve" simply because he is black (although McNab led his team to two championships in his first three seasons with the NFC).

11. Rush firmly believes in the Golden Rule: "Them that's Got the Gold Makes the Rules."

12. Rush wants America to Fail. Rush would rather see America fail than to have Barack Obama save the USA by applying Liberal programs, such as stimulus packages for financial institutions and the auto industry, massive government deficit spending, increased government regulation of the financial markets, broader health care coverage, tax breaks for the middle class and tax increases for the wealthy, etc. We have seen the Conservative policies of massive tax cuts for the rich and de-regulation of the markets bring America to the brink of Depression. Yet, Rush's only prescription is more of the same. Rush is a narrow-minded ideologue who would rather see America fail through the continuation of the old failed Conservative economic policies than recover through the institution of Liberal economic ideas.

Hey as a matter of fact Michael J. Fox himself stated that he sometimes intentionally does not take his meds before he appears somewhere so that his symptoms are more dramatic.

And Ted Kennedy did leave his date in the car underwater while he went back to his room and changed. I think most of us would have tried to dive under the water and get her out but then I am not Ted Kennedy.

Ann Coulter does report on the facts as she sees them. That is her choice as this is still a free country. But since she is not claiming victim status she can still be criticized. She is right about the victim scam in our society. When did we stop celebrating hard work and success and start honoring being a victim.

Righteous indignation is the shield behind which all scoundrels hide.

If you really want to help others do it yourself. Open "your checkbook" and make a diference today. The problem is that most socialists contribute nothing but lofty ideas about how"other" people should live.

This country was built by people like Rush and Ann who work hard and build something. I know that Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter probably contribute more to charity and other anonymous assistance than any of their critics.

So go ahead and keep talking about what you are going to do with the money the govt will be stealing from us all. Keep talking while the rest of America realizes that these taxes will hit everyone and we will not be able to afford to live and pay for the govt at the same time. They eventually get it straight in most socialist economies and then they come back to those of us who work hard create businesses and jobs and opportunity. You know those things govt can't create but loves to tax.
