Williams stood in the courtroom and said he was 'indescribably ashamed' of what he had done and apologized to the families of Cpl. Marie-France Comeau and Jessica Lloyd.
"I stand before you, your honour, indescribably ashamed. I know that the crimes that I've committed have traumatized the families and friends of Marie-France Comeau and Lloyd, in particular have suffered and continue to suffer," he said.
The former commander of Canadian Forces Base Trenton was told by Justice Robert F. Scott, that "one suspects he contained for most of his adult life the fetishes and inner thoughts that began to control him in recent years, pulling him deeper and deeper, culminating in the killing of two innocents"
According to the Globe and Mail, Williams will be sent to Kingston Penitentiary and will most likely be contained in the same cell block as Paul Bernardo.
He will also be given a lifetime weapons ban, will be listed on the sex offender registry and will have to pay compensation to his victims.
Both Marie-France Comeau and Jessica Lloyd were killed after hours of rape and torture at the hands of Williams. He also sexually assaulted Laurie Massicotte and an unnamed woman. He took thousands of photos and video footage of the sexual assaults and murders.
