In the midst of the planning and preparation of the upcoming UN meeting in NYC, President Ahmadinejad begged to have a meeting with President Obama to speak about the nuclear program his country wants to enhance. Whitehouse spokesman Robert Gibbs told the public that the U.S. felt that Iran was making promises they did not want to actually keep. Today, Iran and Russia announced that they have begun working on the deal that was originally started in 1995 between them. It's their intention to make good on their plans to create nuclear reactors that will support the Bushehr power plant in southern Iran. "Russia said today that it will begin loading fuel into Iran's first nuclear power plant next week, defying U.S. calls for a delay amid suspicions that Tehran is trying to build nuclear weapons. Russia signed a $1 billion contract in 1995 to help build the Bushehr plant in southern Iran but has long dragged its feet in the construction. Moscow has cited technical reasons, but there's also been pressure from Washington, which wants the plant delayed and suspects Iran of trying to develop atomic bombs. The United Nations has slapped four rounds of sanctions on Tehran because of its disputed program. Tehran says it wants nuclear capability only for peaceful means, to generate electricity and develop isotopes used for medical purposes. Bushehr would be the first such facility to do so".
