Rwanda in making in Sri Lanka; So called 'Safe Zone' turns into Tamils killing Zone (Opinion)

By Jeyez

Another Rwanda situation is making in Sri Lanka. The Sri Lankan government forces announced 'Safety Zone' few days ago to draw innocent civilians and trap them into the so called area such as Suthanthirapuram, Udaiyaarkaddu, and Vallipuram in the Mullaitivu District.  As soon as the civilians pooled into the so called ‘Safe Zone’ Sri Lankan Forces indiscriminately shelled with heavy artilleries and multi barrels. According to the government own medical officers, they are declaring the situation in the Vanni is beyond them. They are calling immediate intervention of the international community to save these civilians from enforced genocides.

The U.N agency says Vanni situation deteriorated to the crisis level. Even the hospitals are coming under terrible shell attacks from the Sri Lankan forces. Wounded even includes Red Cross (ICRC) personals. Genocides of Tamils continue unabated while the world watching silently. This cannot be accepted, it is the moral duty of the U.N to step in to save the Tamils, please do not allow another Darfur in Sri Lanka.

"People are being caught in the crossfire, hospitals and ambulances have been hit by shelling and several aid workers have been injured while evacuating the wounded. The violence is preventing the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) from operating in the region," said Jacques de Maio, ICRC head of operations for South Asia in Geneva.

It is high time International governments, human rights organizations, electronic, audio, visual and print media needs to use their good offices to press the Sri Lankan government to immediately to stop the war, stop the genocides of Tamils, send the international monitoring mission to save civilians, send medial staff and supply as thousands are bleeding to their deaths.

It is the moral responsibility of International governments, human rights organizations, electronic, audio, visual and print media must do their utmost to bring an immediate end to the genocides of Tamils in Sri Lanka. Only way the human catastrophe unfolding in Sri Lanka against Tamils can be brought to an end by recognize the Tamils rights to self-determination.
