Out out of reach: airline boss Michael O'Leary
Don't try and get through to a human being at Ireland's world-beating cut price airline because you will end up frustrated. Ryanair don't have a telephone number on its website, despite telling you to contact a booking operator for certain flights. A search on the internet reveals a FAQ answer to the question "Can someone give me the REAL phone number for Ryanair?" from surfers.
They advise that the best way to get through is by telephoning the Dublin headquarters. After a 10 minutes on the phone to the magic number +353 1 812 1212 or 8121327. the phone finally rings as if I'm getting through to an operator but then there is the pre-recorded message:"You have been forwarded to a voicemail. However the person at extension xxxx does not subscribe to this service. Goodbye."
The verdict from my helpful co-surfers is: "Unfortunately they do not believe in customer service." Another snorted: "Their customer service is abysmal. Be prepared to be ignored." For those people still determined to get a cheap flight bargain, you could try one of the following numbers in Ireland: Ryanair Farranfore, Killarney Kerry + 353 066 9793038 or Ryanair Ltd Horan International Airport, Charlestown +353 094 9367288
The airline, which claims to rival British Airways for the amount of international routes and passengers carried, has been criticised for some of its practices. It was voted the "least favourite airline" in a 2006 poll by TripAdvisor, with rival low cost airline easyJet second.
One reason cited relative to other airlines was unfriendly and complacent staff. Critics have attacked its hidden "taxes" and fees, and limited customer services, and charged that it practises deceptive advertising. In November 2006, it was exposed as the subject of more complaints than any other airline in the European Union. Ryanair was also fined for its handling of a disabled passenger. I can feel a torrent of angry letters and calls being unleashed on the feisty boss of Ryanair Michael O'Leary.
