A Sad Scene

Because of a very harsh winter, and cut off from food sources as well as limited electricity many Dutch had starved to death during the first months of 1945. They would burn anything they could to keep warm and to cook. For ex., the leg is missing from this kitchen counter as it was no doubt burned for fuel.
