"No Fire Zone" a.k.a "Safe Zone" has been re-demarcated today, Military spokesman Brigadier Udaya Nanayakkara says.

MULLAITTIVU: SRI LANKA Army now in full control of more than two, third of the existing PUTHUMATTALAN “New Safety Zone”. Friday (8) afternoon officially announced the re-demarcation of the “New Safety Zone”, restricting to the strip, south of KARAYAMULLIVAIKKAL including VELLAMULLIVAIKKAL with an area of some 2 km in length and 1.5 km in width, the Army Headquarters declared. This has been modified to match with the present situation and after considering the concentration of civilians in the area.

The official announcement over re-demarcation of the “New Safety Zone” came hours after Army troops Thursday (7) evening captured an earth-bund of the LTTE after pitch confrontations from where troops collected several dead Tigers and a large cache of LTTE arms and ammunition inflicting heavy casualties on them.
