NP Rank:
The safest states in the US
For the fifteenth year in a row, CQ Press has announced their rankings for the safest and most-dangerous states. Not too many surprises, but I would like to know, what makes New Hampshire the safest state?
New Hampshire was rated the safest state, followed by Maine, North Dakota and Vermont. Nevada was the listed as the most dangerous state for the fifth straight year, behind Louisiana, New Mexico and South Carolina.
CQ Press bases its rankings using rates in six crime categories: murder, rape, aggravated assault, burglary, robbery, and motor vehicle
theft.

A great little house on a typical day in small-town New Hampshire.

amyjudd, I like this story. It's good stuff. New Hampshire sounds too good to be true with no income tax.

It's nice to know that while there is turmoil all around us, there are so many spots like this just minutes away, where there are eagles, seals, fox, deer and.....quiet.

Hello Amy!
Interesting results to say the least.
With Oregon (my state!) having so much open air, clean space and thousands upon thousands of miles of evergreens as far as the eye can see, it's difficult to see why Oregon wasn't up there, somewhere.
Then again, Portland (just like anywhere else,) also recognizes it's crime areas, which law abiding people know to stay away from if they know what's good for them.
Congratulations to New Hampshire!

This was taken from "el Mirador de San Nicolas". It's a small square where people gather to enjoy the breathtaking views of the Alhambra and the snow covered Sierra Nevada. Usually there are a lot of "hippy" people up there making music and selling hand made jewellery or art. It was a beautiful summery spring day and I was on a short holiday with my boyfriend Javi and my Mum Marita. We had a fantastic time!!!
