Well don't that beat all? When the Liberal Government under Jean "Poutine" Chretien, have a fire sale, they have quite the Crown Asset Sale, regardless of the 100K plus it cost to refit this engine. Somehow shades of British Columbias NDP who spent over half a billion dollars building three Fast Cat Ferries and then find out theie Intake turbines can chew up and spit out everything from seals to whales to a pulp, in ending the 3 Fast Cat Ferries went up for auction and sold for pocket change of less than 20 million dollars for all three! Compared to the original cost of a half a billion dollars, a real smoking deal!! Yep, and the NDP and Liberals want to Rule this country and topple Harper. No Thanks, Taxpayers can't afford you!
Now back to this lucky stiff who bought this engine, all he has to do now is find a Battleship to put it in, since he found and bought the container and engine a decade ago for 400 dollars, it should be easy to find a destroyer sitting around Navy Docks waiting to be mothballed, especially if the Liberals ever get back into Power, and if that ever friggin happens, Iwill be on the market for one of them fighter jets, and I bet I could get one for like a grand. Could happen, I could use the gatling machine gun for hunting, whizzing overhead at Mack 5, taking down them Super Moose!
Otherwise he sells it as is, for some pretty sweet coin. As they say, someone else's trash, can be someone else's treasure!
HALIFAX — John Wilson never dreamt there might be anything of value inside the old cargo container he picked up for $400 at a Nova Scotia junk yard in 1998.
So when he finally opened it a decade later, he was astonished to find a fully refurbished gas turbine engine, that once powered the naval destroyer HMCS Athabaskan.
This week, after months of talks with the RCMP and Military Police — to make sure he wasn't in possession of stolen government property — Wilson put the engine up for sale on Kijiji, the classified ads website, for $30,000.
"Open to offers on jet engine . . . used in Tribal Class destroyer," says Wilson's Internet pitch — not the kind of wording you usually see in a classified ad.
