Saleh al-Somali, senior al Qaeda member believed to be dead
Salen al-Somali is believed to have died earlier this week from a drone plane bombing in Pakistan. The U.S. military sent their drone planes to strike al-Qaeda targets in Pakistan's northern Waziristan region on Tuesday. It is believed that al-Somali died from the drone strike of the Waziristan region.
Al-Somali was a major operations planner affiliated with al-Qaeda radical group. According to U.S. officials, al-Somali was responsible for al-Qaeda operations outside of the Afghanistan-Pakistan region and formed part of al-Qaeda's senior leadership circle. Al-Somali was involved with plotting terrorist acts around the world, and "probably included plotting attacks against the United States and Europe," said a U.S. official.
"There are strong indications that senior al Qaeda operations planner Saleh al-Somali has died," a senior U.S. official told ABC News.
