Oklahoma Citizen's Proclamation For Morality Press Conference July 2, 2009

Well known homophobic Oklahoma state Representative Sally Kern is set to face a possible new challenge in her next race; a transgender candidate called Brittany Novotny.

Rep. Sally Kern made headlines previously at a Republican fundraiser saying that 'gays are infiltrating city councils and winning elections'. She also said:

“I honestly think it [homosexuality] is the biggest threat our nation has, even more so than terrorism or Islam,”

Brittany Novotny is not gay, but she is transgender, which many think Kern will have strong issues with. Novotny is an attorney in Oklahoma City and she specalized in civil rights and employment law. She is a graduate of the University of California and is a member of the Young Democrats of Oklahoma.

Novotny has not yet announced her candidacy for the Oklahoma House of Representatives.

Instead, she said by phone, “I’m exploring a run.”

She expects to make an announcement by the end of September or the beginning of October.

“We’re doing everything we can to run a credible campaign,” she said, implying the importance of ousting the incumbent.

Novotny has gone on record saying that many people want Kern out of office, but before she makes any official bid to run, she wants to lay the groundwork for her campaign.

Kern meanwhile, released her 'Proclamation for Morality' in June which stated that the United States had 'become a world leader in promoting abortion, pornography, same-sex marriage, sex trafficking, divorce, illegitimate births, child abuse and many other forms of debauchery'.

"Debauchery" that she has done what to hinder? The incumbent is all talk-- esp bad in her case as it is bigoted.
