Samantha Bell, Joe Stack's Daughter, Calls her Dad A Hero

Samantha Bell, the daughter of man who flew his plane into an IRS building to prove a point, says Joe Stack is a hero.

Bell's comments came from a phone interview that aired Monday morning on Good Morning America.

Stack is a hero, Bell said, "because now maybe people will listen."

"I have many cases of people I know that are suffering in the hands of the government and people literally dying because they are not getting the help they need," she said.

Bell, Stack's daughter from his first marriage, says her father should be respected because so many people don't stand up for what they believe in.

Although she praised her father, she didn't support his decision to commit suicide in a plan crash that killed IRS collection agent Vernon Hunter, 61.

"His last actions, the suicide, the catastrophe that caused injuries and death, that was wrong," she said.

"He may have been somewhat frustrated, but he was a very quiet man," Bell continued. "The father I knew was a loving, caring, devoted man who cherished every moment with me and my three children, his grandchildren... This man who did this was not my father.
