5-Alarm Fire in San Francisco's Western Addition: 3 Buildings on Fire

Firefighters are trying to contain a 5-alarm fire that started in a Western Addition apartment building. The blaze has spread to two neighboring buildings, all of which have been evacuated. The buildings are on Pierce Street between Elm Street and Golden Gate Avenue.

Roughly 120 firefighters are on the scene, and are getting the fire under control. The fire began at 1015 Pierce Street, a four-story building that is over 100 years old. So far, one resident and two firefighters are reported to have been injured in the Western Addition fire. The buildings share a block with Claire Lilienthal School.

The SFist has info on how to help the buildings' residents, whose holiday season was ruined, to say the least:

The Red Cross will have a tent area at 1455 Golden Gate (at Pierce) tonight and tomorrow taking donations of clothes, blankets, good tidings, etc. monetary donations only. After tomorrow, you can go to the downtown San Francisco Red Cross at 85 2nd Street (at Mission).

You can see eyewitness video footage of the Western Addition fire below.
