Typhoon Mirinae, locally named Santi, with packing winds of 150 kilometers (93 miles) per hour, is expected to exit Luzon into China Sea later on Saturday, Oct. 31, when people visit cemeteries paying respects to dead relatives on All Saints' Day commemoration...



'Santi' is the fourth tropical storm to hit the Philippines in Five weeks slammed into the main island of Luzon on Saturday uprooting trees and toppling power lines,  Pagasa also said are monitoring another weather disturbance this weekend...



The Philippines is bracing  again for another tropical cyclone, barely a month after typhoon 'Ondoy' (Ketsana), typhoon 'Pepeng' (Parma) and typhoon Ramil (Lupit) epic floods, heavy rains and landslides already claimed over a hundreds lives in recent weeks , which parts of the capital Metro Manila is still under flood water...

The NDCC said Santi affected some 2,251 families or 10,667 people in 54 villages in seven provinces. Of these, 1,130 families or 5,173 families are staying in 23 evacuation centers.

The list does not yet include three other reported fatalities in Camarines Norte earlier reported by Region 5 Disaster Coordinating Council Director Bernardo Alejandro.

Several areas in Metro Manila and Southern Luzon also remain flooded, while areas in Laguna, Quezon and Rizal provinces remained without electric power, NDCC said.

At least two areas in Camarines Norte province were cut off, experiencing both power and cell communications outages.

In its 11 p.m. weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Santi’s maximum sustained winds was at 95 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center, with gustiness of up to 120 kph.

Pagasa last spotted Santi over the South China Sea, 360 kilometers west southwest of Metro Manila, moving westward at 22 kph.

The storm is forecast to move farther away from the country and is expected to be 830 km west southwest of the National Capital Region by Sunday evening.

Twister damages 50 houses in Cavite...

MANILA - A strong twister swept through a village in Cavite while the province was being pounded by typhoon Santi (international name Mirinae) on Saturday, damaging at least 50 houses. Dante Mendoza, village chief of Barangay San Jose in Tarnate town, said the affected villagers have been evacuated and several injured people have been brought to hospital. Mendoza said the twister struck while the typhoon was pounding the province with strong winds and heavy rains.

S. Tagalog region sobrang binayo ni 'Santi' (S. Tagalog region hard hit by typhoon 'Santi')

Kasabay ng bisperas ng Undas, humagupit sa Southern Tagalog ang bagyong Santi. Sa Batangas City, dalawa ang nawawala, isa ang nakaligtas nang mahulog sa nawasak  na tulay ang kanilang kotse.
