Sarah Palin fails to name a single newspaper that she's read
As the presidential debate hots up the UK press are picking up on the fact that Sarah Palin didn't appear to be able to name one newspaper that she'd read to keep her informed on current affairs. It may be that she just chose not to name a specific source but her faltering responses made her look uncomfortable with questions around the media. Here's a link to the YouTube clip which to many won't seem too much of a faux pas but to the media itself a Vice-Presidential candidate that doesn't appear to be able to - or maybe want to - name one newspaper that she's read or reads is an issue worth exploring - it's a question that surely will be asked again.
The Republican vice-presidential candidate was asked repeatedly what news sources she read to keep abreast of current affairs.
Her faltering performance came in the latest instalment of her cringeworthy interview with CBS News presenter Katie Couric. Last week she was seen rambling in response to Ms Couric's questions about the threat posed by Russia.
"When it comes to establishing your world view, I was curious, what newspapers and magazines did you regularly read before you were tapped for this to stay informed and to understand the world?"
Mrs Palin replies: "I've read most of them, again with a great appreciation for the press, for the media."
Ms Couric: What, specifically?
Mrs Palin: "Um, all of them, any of them that have been in front of me all these years."
Ms Couric: "Can you name a few?"

LotusFlower, I like this story. It's good stuff. It appears to me that Governor Palin is out of her league. Thanks for this story.

Thanks Rhonda - I'm not sure which league she's in. It could be that she's just what lots of folk want at this juncture but they haven't yet had time - to see her in real rough and tumble of inttelectual debate - she might suprise everyone yet!

The governor must not have been briefed on which newspapers to name since so many are being singled out and lambasted when and if they point out obvious realities that the McCain-Palin ticket don't want highlighted.

what a dope! What an embarrassment to the USA and the Office of PV of the USA.
She cheapens the Office of VP and USA in general... she is stupid white trash

She could have been smart and just say that she will not name any news papers for it would give them free publicity and this in a free and capitalist country would be unfair as a VP candidate to other papers.

She's been carefully scripted on what to say about the media and how to say it, or so it seems ...
When you parse through her answers she didn't do half bad actually - was very complimentary of the media in general, and didn't offend anybody by preferring one source over some other ... not bad ...

Remember my article some two weeks ago questioned whether she even reads the biggest daily in Alaska. Now I'm sure she doesn't. Because 14 days or so before she made the pit bull with lipstick remark at the convention, a child was mauled to death by a pit bull in Anchorage, just a few miles from Wasilla. It was in the Anchorage daily paper for several days. If she or her staff had of read the paper, she wouldn't have made such an insensitive remark. At least a governor that cared about her people would not have. But... another pit bull (with lipstick) might have. Maybe she is right about herself.

Big (expletive) deal! Why should she? Why advertise for some .... media outlet that seems bent of helping congress force this outrageous bill down our throats. If she named even one there would be outcries of 'favoritism' about that.

There is nothing wrong with being a 'soccer mom'...
However, there is something wrong with being supremely unqualified for a job (any job). The USA is in a sorry state. Sarah to the rescue?

I'm one of the best informed people I know and I NEVER read any newspapers. They are so vacuous, empty-headed and biased to read them is an utter waste of time. If Sarah Palin never reads a newspaper, good for her! Her thinking is not contaminated by the ideology of the left.

I am so sick of hearing about Sarah Palin. Can we stop wasting time on her and pay attention to the "issues?"

Yes, anything would be better than a communist. Even a Nazi! Right Panzer? Sig Heil! Arbeit macht Frei!
