Sarkozy Junior plays catch up with Father President
Discontentment rather than bemusement! France is once again faced with one of Nicolas Sarkozy's now infamous stunts. This one though seems to be reaching the limits of the French people's patience. His second son Jean Sarkozy has been tipped to take over leadership of a public body which operates one of the wealthiest areas in France with a yearly budget of 115 Million Euros. The said body is called EPAD and is responsible for the management of Europe's biggest business district in the western outskirt of Paris, La Defense. That represents 5% of all of the region office space, 150,000 employees, 200,000 inhabitants, 1 million people travelling through this transit hub and includes shopping malls like Les Quatre Temps and Le CNIT.
So far so good, but Jean Sarkozy is only 23, on top of that he is also an average sophomore at a Law school in Paris. There is little wonder as to why nearly 100,000 have signed a petition against his arrival. To take it further Le Parisien newspaper organized a poll and 64% of the French population is against what can be seen as a Golden parachute.
The French president was heavily criticizing such practices as a crisis was hitting financial markets and banks around the world. He was also defending education reform to promote success thanks to studying. Clearly there is one rule for France and another one for the Sarkozy clan hence the criticism online and offline, criticism that went as far as accusation of nepotism in what is now called the "Banana Republic of France". As a result, Jean Sarkozy is becoming now more popular on the web than his father and this can be easily verified on Google Trends and twitter channel #jeansarkozypartout
