A unit of the British armed forces has exposed a man for lying on his facebook about serving in the SAS in the Falklands War.

An sas "hero" has been exposed as a fantasist by serving soldiers.

Jim McAuley bragged on his Facebook profile that he fought at Goose Green in the Falklands and with special forces in Afghanistan. He also claimed a key role in the SAS rescue at the Iranian embassy in London in 1980.

In fact, he only ever served in the catering corps, trained army cadets and organised local Poppy collections.

McAuley's lies were finally uncovered by soldiers sick of his boasting. They posed online as "Jenny Gilbert" to expose him. Now he has been forced to resign as a cadet instructor and make a grovelling apology online.
