Sats results: Thousands fail to hit english, maths and science standards
The bad news keeps rolling in from the SATs results in the UK. The test, which is administered to children around the ages of 10 to 15, was beleaguered with delays in grading this year.
Sats results published today revealed 27 per cent of 14-year-olds failed to reach the standard expected of their age in English examinations.
Some 23 per cent missed official Government targets in mathematics and 29 per cent were under-performing in science.
Results of tests taken by almost 600,000 pupils in England this year show standards in English and science fell compared to 2007 but improved slightly in maths.
Nevertheless, ministers insisted that thousands more teenagers were making the grade in so-called Key Stage 3 tests over the last decade.
