Saudi Arabia said that It has arrested 11 Al Qaeda militants and seized arms and broke up a cell that was planning to destabilize the monarchy. The arrests happened in various places including the border of neigboring Yemen, Yemen is considered to be "operational base" of several Islamic militant factions including that of Al Qaeda. Saudi Authorities told that Al Qaeda was planning to kick start it's activities in the Islamic monarchy from this January onwards, which were subdued due to the crackdown by the Saudi Government.
Saudi Arabia said on Tuesday it had arrested 11 al Qaeda-linked militants, seizing arms and breaking up a cell that planned to carry out attacks and kidnappings. Police arrested members of the group in several areas, including in a region near the border with Yemen, seizing arms and ammunition, Saudi media quoted the interior ministry as saying. State television showed footage of security forces digging out bags containing assault rifles and other weapons hidden in a mountainous area. Group members, all Saudis, planned attacks on security forces, Saudi-owned Al Arabiya television said. Al Qaeda's wing in Yemen, widely seen as a militant stronghold, said in January it would become active across the Arabian Peninsula, in a move to revive al Qaeda in Saudi Arabia, the world's top oil exporter.

The House of Saud is tettering on the brink. I wonder what will happen if they really go after their terrorists. We shouldn't forget that our old friend Osama is Saudi.

So it's been over seven years since 9/11 and they've stopped how many terrorists? It's like they didn't bother until it was going to become a problem in their own country and then they said, "Oh, wait a minute...."

Another point to be noted is that some arrests are made close to the Yemen border.
Yemen is the ancestral homeland of Osama and he enjoys considerable support over there. Looks like the atmosphere in Yemen is ideal for terrorist cultivation. One of the first major incidents in the sudden surge of "Islamic" terrorist attack is happened here - the attack on USS Cole that killed 17 sailors.
Though the Saudis managed to suppress the Al Qaeda activities within their country, they are unable to put a stop to the flow of men and arms form the unguarded long border with Yemen. Having a weak government also does not help Yemen. Unlike Saudi Arabia, though is in the oil rich gulf region, half of Yemen's population live under poverty, suffering from un employment and illiteracy. Their approach - surrender and release - towards terrorist is considered as "lenient" by the West. The reason the Yemenis government siting for such approach is that - "we can't fight other people's war for them".
There is no wonder that this country is becoming such a breeding ground for terrorism considering all these factors.
