Saudi Arabia Warns Iran Over Lebanon ‘Coup’

Saudia Arabia has spoken out against Iran for its potential support of a "coup" in Lebanon, and called upon other Arab nations "to respect Lebanon's sovereignty and independence" and stay out of its affairs.

RIYADH, May 13: Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud al-Faisal warned on Tuesday that Iran’s relations with the Arab world would be affected if Tehran was supporting what he described as a “coup” in Lebanon.

“Iran’s relations with all Arab countries — if not all Islamic (countries) — would be affected if Iran was supporting the coup that took place in Lebanon,” Prince Faisal told reporters.

His comments came after six days of deadly sectarian fighting pitting Shiite opposition groups led by the Iranian- and Syrian-backed Hezbollah against supporters of the Western-backed government.

“The kingdom calls again upon all regional parties to respect Lebanon’s sovereignty and independence, and to stop meddling in its internal affairs and poking sectarian unrest,” he said.

At least 62 people have been killed in violence across, the worst sectarian fighting since the 1975-1990 civil war.

Saudi Arabia backs the government of Prime Minister Fuad Siniora, whose rule has been challenged by a long-running Hezbollah-led campaign.

Interesting how the Saudi regime hasn't asked the USA or the Israelis to "respect the sovereignty of Lebanon", nor does it extract itself from its own interference in Lebanese politics.

Ignorance may be bliss for Faisal, but many in the world know what is actually happening.

The USA and the Saudi's proxies got their butts kicked militarily by Hizb'allah over the last week and thus their political grip on the puppet regime there is slipping, and they don't like that.  They may actually have to deal with Iran and Syria in the new power sharing situation which seems to be emerging there and that looks a lot like defeat in Washington.

All I can say is too freaking bad for them!  Those who value justice don't give a hoot what the Saudi's, Americans, or Israelis want for Lebanon, or for any other country for that matter.

Once the oil runs out Saudi Arabia and the oligarchs that rule will just slip back into a desert of the dark ages from whence they came.
