Even though Saudi Arabia discriminates and treat women like sub-humans, a pricess from the Saudi Arabian ruling family expressed her desire to drive a car - which is a fundamental right of women in the world - in the country. Princess Ameera - al - Taweel says she has got an international driving license and drives a car in all the countries she travel to.
Though the reaction of the moral police and the hardlined mullas are yet to be know.
News is here. From "The Telegraph". Saudi princeSaudi princess says she is 'ready to drive'

The Koran doesn't say she can't and it doesn't say she has to wear her face totally covered, either. But, gradually, the educated men and women will change all this? I don't know.
In Qatr they have. Going for real equality with the blessings of the leadership.

Thanks very much for your post. As the news has appeared in The Telegraph please use Nowpublic highlight tool to link to original article rather than just a hyperlink.

Hi Sanjay,
I would have done that if I had Firefox.Unfortunately I have IE. The IE version of highlight tool does not seem to work. So I typed manually "The Telegraph" just before the hyperlink ;).
On second thoughts, is it possible to creat a button in the "Add a comment" box itself to highlight an article? I think a small tutorial in the appropriate section would be in order .

"Even though Saudi Arabia discriminates and treat women like sub-humans"Are you kidding me? treated as sub-humans because they wouldn't drive cars ?The only reason they're not driving is protection from lousy drivers and crazy men.I'm not against women driving in Saudi Arabia, I'm pro. But some things has to change.

Not allowing to drive cars is not even the tip of the iceberg. Heck , it is not even an ice cube in a glass :). My statement just says that even in such adverse condition, a woman from the ruling family came forward - perfectly knowing the consequences and what she is up against.
Protection? what protection. If provided an opportunity, women can equal men in most cases and even outperform then in some areas. The issues is that women in that country dont even have the status of a cow or a camel.
Most wonderful thing is that this "protection" theory does not come into picture at all when they have been send as human bombs.
