Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger today honoured Hudson hero pilot Capt. Chesley Sullenberger as called him a hero. Sullenberger was honoured in his home state, and Schwarzenegger took a break from trying to fix the economy to present the pilot with a jacket with a state seal, a California flag and a 'California Hero' license plate.

"Today is a very important day," Schwarzenegger said. "There are legislators upstairs that are negotiating and working on a budget -- [we] need a great hero in a state capitol."

The Sullenberger family lives in Danville, California.

As usual, Sullenberger was humble and subdued in his acceptance.

That's a nice gesture from the governor of California.  He's a big hit in NYC
