A hand written scribbling which says “rebellion, in The year 1789 France, Religion Thrown, and Monarchy” has been preserved till date in a scrap Book which is now a prized possession of Gopal Bhardwaj eminent historian and chronicler from Mussoorie.Showing the scrap book which dates back to 1822 and has entry ticket of a ceremony held in honour of Shakespeare in 1815 and some other interesting facts of those years says that fall of Bastille must have made a great impact in England as evident with the scribbling. Gopal Says this scribbled scrap probably belonged to some soldier who might have been witness to the fall of Bastille and was passed on to Admiral Hood the husband of famous lady hood whose name is still engraved at Bhadraj Stone pillar. It is important to note that France celebrates its National Day and 220th anniversary of Fall of Bastille on july 14th marking the start of the French revolution and this year <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 />India is getting honour at the fête nationale as Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is the guest of Honour in the parade organised at the national day celebration. 310 Indian soldiers will march along in the parade on the beats of military band. Gopal Bhardwaj opines that the scribble should be preserved in the museum as a mark of friendship between the two countries and has commended the efforts of the person to whom this scrap book might have belonged.
