Sean Duffy, Ex MTV Real World Star, Current DA Runs For Congress
Sean Duffy: Republican Congressional Candidate In Wisconsin; Endorsed By Sarah Palin
Sean Duffy, 38, has done many things now he only wants to do one thing - be the Republican Congresman from Wisconsin. Sean Duffy was a star of the 1997 MTV reality TV series, Real World: Boston. Sean Duffy also appeared as gay groom in a "mockumentary" film. Sean Duffy was also a champion lumberjack, a commentator on ESPN, and he is a District Attorney in Wisconsin.
Now, with the endorsement of Sarah Palin he hopes to be the Republican member of Congress for Wisconsin.
It is an open question how his MTV reality series background will play with voters in Wisconsin.
A veteran of the 1997 season of “The Real World,” Duffy cut a fine swagger through clubbing and womanizing. His primary challenger, Dan Mielke, a farmer and self-declared tea party activist has attacked Duffy’s wilder television moments.
A year ago when Duffy announced his candidacy he received little attention and was given little hope of winning but not anymore.
Now, as the anti-incumbent wave continues to fuel the midterm elections, he is considered a contender for the open seat. He has attracted the kind of big money and big-name endorsements from national GOP figures that he did not expect at the start of the race
But Duffy has insisted his sedate life speaks for itself now. He is married to Rachel Campos-Duffy, another reality television alumna, and author and television host. They have six children. Duffy is a champion lumberjack and holds the record for pole climbing.
Sean Duffy is expected to win his primary race against "tea party" candidate Dan Mielke, a race that will be decided in September.
