Sean Goldman To Be Returned To Father David Goldman Within 48 Hrs
David Goldman, the father of nine-year old Sean Goldman, was given custody of his son by the Brazilian court today after the boy was kidnapped by Goldman's wife Bruna Bianchi in 2004. Sean Goldman is to be returned to his father within 48 hours. But, the case is likely to be appealed again by the boy's stepfather Joao Paulo Lins e Silva who is currently taking care of the boy.
The Brazilian court unanimously decided that Sean Goldman be returned to his father David Goldman of Tinton Falls, New Jersey effective in 48 hours. Pretending to be going on a vacation to her native Brazil, Goldman's wife Bruna Bianchi kidnapped Sean at the age of four. She than divorced from Goldman and remarried in Brazil. Last year, Bianchi died while giving birth. The custody of Sean was given to his step father Joao Paulo Lins e Silva. And, David Goldman was trying to get his son back ever since.
The case got a lot of publicity, such that New Jersey U.S. Congressman Chris Smith had to step in to help resolve it. It is being reported that even President Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton got involved.
Sean Goldman is now nine years old and has a dual citizenship. The boy's Brazilian family says Sean wants to stay with them. Sean Goldman himself has not spoken to the media.

This has become so ridiculous, how this family keeps flaunting the law is beyond me. Remember the Cuban boy who was returned to his father, there was an outcry all over the world on that one, where's the outcry for Sean and his father. I think the whole thing would be over in a minute if there was just a hint of some sort of sanctions, i.e. boycotting the Olympics, reducing the number of tourist who could go there, any kind of economic sanctions possible. A hint would be all it would take.

I am so glad that his son will now be reunited with his father, where he belongs. No matter why the wife left, she shouldn't have left that way, she was selfish and not thinking of her son or his father. And if they were unhappy don't take it out on the son. They can never get those years back, my prayers are with both of them this holiday season. It will take alot of getting to know each other again.

I agree with JANAL - I say we start a campaign to boycott tourism and the olympics in Brazil until Sean is returned to his father and the USA. This is just another form of terrorism.

I am so glad to hear that justice may prevail. the mother died and the natural father wants to take care of his son. The stepfather (her 2nd husband) is not a natural parent and should not be given as much weight in this matter. It's unfortunate that the wife brought another group of people into this domestic issue but the boy is 9 and will likely adapt well to living in the US, assuming he doesn't have language issues. This father has fought long and hard for the return of his kidnapped son and is legally and biologically the parent. He's not been found to be abusive or absent of his own choice so he has ties to the boy that will never be reversed and this may turn out to be a happy ending for father and son. With today's technology, the boy can certainly keep in touch with his step family and that is an issue that should be addressed.

And of course the crooked bastards of Brazil's Supreme Court have once again stepped in to keep breaking international law by once again blocking the order of the lower court. To add insult to injury they go into recess until February. I wish that all this idiots that continue to break international law get what they deserve. What a joke.
