Bank Teller Tackles Robber And Gets Canned

Jim Nicholson, a teller at Key Bank in Seattle, has been fired for going after a would be robber.

After more than two years working as a teller at the Key Bank branch in Lower Queen Anne, Nicholson clearly understood the bank's strict policy of quickly complying with robbers' demands and avoiding confrontation.

Instead, Nicholson threw the bag to the floor, lunged toward the robber and demanded to see a weapon. Surprised, the would-be bank robber backed up and then bolted for the door, with Nicholson on his heels.

Nicholson, 30, chased the man for several blocks before knocking him to the ground with the help of a passer-by. Nicholson then held him until police arrived.

That was Tuesday.

On Thursday, Nicholson was fired.

Granted, banks are federally insured, but doesn't the firing of Nicholson seem a little extreme?

Insurance covers all losses, so it was a lucky chance of the bank owner to earn some extra money on claiming a bit exagerated amount of the stolen property. Definitely, it was a wrong job place for Nicholson .

Policy or not, there's something wrong when fighting evil gets you punished.  I hate to bring up a 9-11 issue, but should the people on that plane have shut up and been good little witnesses?

With this publicity, it is highly unlikely that Jim will remain unemployed by Key Bank for long.  You can see my blog on this here:
