Seaweed Could Cure Obesity
New research by Newcastle University in The United Kingdom suggest Seaweed may hold the cure for obesity.
The team of scientists led by Dr Iain Brownlee and Prof Jeff Pearson found seaweed could reduce the amount of fat absorbed by the body by around 75 per cent.
The findings were released today at The American Chemical Society Spring meeting in San Francisco. The team said the next step would be clinical trials.
The seaweed findings bring hope those suffering with obesity and are said to have none of the negative effects of oner the counter medications sold to tackle obesity.
So far researchers have tried using the seaweed in bread and taste tests gave the thumbs up. If the trials go as planned we could soon find ourselves using the seaweed in every day foods that could reduce the absorbtion of fat by as much as 75%.
