Update Sept 13 3:47pm pst A woman was killed at about 5 p.m. Friday in Corona when she drove around the extended railroad-crossing arm and was hit by a Metrolink train, a police sergeant said.

The woman, whose name has not been released, drove a 1994 Lexus sedan around the railroad crossing arm in the 200 block of North Sheridan Street and was hit by an eastbound Metrolink train, said Sgt. John Marshall of the Corona Police Department

The car was shoved about 600 feet east of the crossing, Marshall said.

The woman, who was the car's only occupant, was declared dead at the scene, Marshall said.

The crash happened yards from the Main Street Metrolink station in an industrial area of the city.

About 600 people were aboard the train. No injuries were reported but one passenger was taken to Corona Regional Medical Center for treatment of an apparent anxiety attack, a Corona police news release said.

The train was delayed, but went on to the Riverside station before 8 p.m.

Less than an hour after a Metrolink collided with a Union Pacific freight train in Chatsworth, California, a second deadly Metrolink collision occured in Corona, California.

CORONA A Metrolink train collided with a car in Corona Friday afternoon leaving the car passenger dead and one injury on the train, according to officials.

The crash occured about 5:11 p.m. in the 100 block of N. Sheridan Street, near Railroad Street, according to Corona Fire Department Battalion Chief Mike Samuels.

The collision occured about a half hour after a deadly crash in Chatsworth that killed at least six people and injured dozens of others, many critically.

Authorities said the car, a black Lexus, apparently tried to race the train. The car was reportedly pushed for a hundred feet until the train came to a full stop.

The driver was declared at the scene.

The train passenger's injuries were reported as minor but the passenger was transported to Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Me, myself and I

I was on this train and the car came to rest directly out the window of train car I was in. I witnessed this woman die. I was proud of how the emergency crews, Metrolink and the passengers on the train all handled themselves... well, with the exception of the people taking pictures and video of the car and the woman dying inside. This was a tough situation to sit through and send my condolences to the woman's family and friends.
