Senate Grinds to Halt, Interrupts Testimony on Government Transparnecy

For the second day in a row, Senate Republicans decided to quit working at 2 p.m., because they are really cranky. And also Senate rules allow people to shut it down unilaterally, at 2 p.m..

Yes, in order to continue working on things in the afternoon, you apparently need unanimous consent.

Still angry that health care legislation has been signed by President Obama, Republicans are making good on their threats to continue obstructing the process of conducting Senate business by using procedural rules and adding countless amendments to the health care reconciliation action.

Senator John McCain, R. Arizona, has been quoted as saying that there will be no cooperation with pending matters for the remainder of the year. Senator Jim Bunning, R. Kentucky, is expected to hold up a vote on an upcoming extension of COBRA and unemployment benefits, scheduled before the Easter holiday recess. (Round 2.)

Today's action brought the Senate to a halt in the middle of a hearing on (note the irony), government transparency.
