New York Senator Charles "Chuck" Schumer is in hot water for calling an unnamed US Airways flight attendant a "b-word" when she asked Schumer to turn off his cell phone on take off.

Senator Schumer is bearing the brunt of public disapproval as the story of him badmouthing a flight attendant broke. While on board a US Airways plane, a flight attendant told Schumer to turn off his cell phone as the plane was about to take off, but Schumer gave a "no," saying he should be able to talk until the cabin door is shut. The two got into an argument and as the flight attendant was walking away, Schumer called the flight attendant a "bitch." Although a Republican aide broke the story, it seems many people witnessed the incident.

“The senator made an off-the-cuff comment under his breath after the flight attendant walked away,” spokesman Josh Vlasto said yesterday. “He shouldn’t have made it, he regrets it and he has apologized for it.”

Eventually, Schumer admitted to using inappropriate lexicon and apologized -- he personally called the flight attendant, and she allegedly accepted the apology.

The name of the flight attendant is not being released.

Thanks for putting this up, Yuliya.  Talk about arrogance!  Hope he gets un-elected.

As the exalted Senator has issued an apology, I think we can be sure that he actually made the comment.
