Certainly good news we can all use, when cooler heads prevail and a meet and greet is underway.

Senior US envoy joins Iran nuclear talks

By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

GENEVA - Senior envoys from Iran and the six countries trying to persuade it to compromise on its nuclear program have started talks.

For the first time, the talks include a ranking U.S. envoy in attendance.

The six nations hope Iran will agree to stop expanding its uranium enrichment program.

In exchange, they offer to desist for pushing for new UN Security Council sanctions against the Islamic Republic.

If the two sides can agree, the next step would be formal negotiations which the six nations hope will result in Tehran fully scrapping its enrichment activities in exchange for a package of political and economic incentives.

Enrichment can make both nuclear fuel and the material used in the fissile core of warheads.

Barry Artiste, I like this story. It's good stuff.

Barry the nuance is attendance of the US envoy, he is just allowed to listen not actually say any think!

Further Iran will need and want a lot more than just some sanctions be lifted!

Desarmement of the US would be one and stay far away from Iran with any US military unit would be another! Join the security counsel would be a third!

Thanks for the insightful comments Paschen, let's hope the presence  of all parties will be beneficial, granted the US Envoy may not be able to speak, but the most valuable in all this is to listen to the other party, because all in all, no one learns anything about the other party by talking.
