Gjilan, Kosovo Sunday, May 11, 2009 Several hundred Serb from the village of Kormjan, today have blocked the main road, which connects Kamenica & Gjilan, against the electricity cut in this village since two weeks ago, the reason is “they didn’t pay” officials said. They clashed with police, by throwing stones on their bodies, vehicles and other strong tools. Fighting continued until 22:00 pm '/ h, where 10 policemen were injured, reports the spokesman of police for the region of Gjilan Ismet Hashani. He says the protests spread to neighboring Serb villages but ended after police were brought in from other towns in Kosovo. The Serb minority refuses to pay Kosovo's ethnic Albanian-run power company and says it wants Serbia to provide electricity to Serb-dominated villages. “They constantly throwed stones, glass bottles and tires of cars, which once made in flame than pushing them on the street” told BPA Mr. Hashani.
