Shortly after the serial killer in Gaffney, SC had claimed another victim, and the police have released a sketch of the suspect. The rural town has gone into a sort of lockdown, with Fourth of July festivities canceled in order to keep people at home.

Police have been circulating a sketch of the man based on those of other eyewitness descriptions but have not named any suspects in the "spree killings" of five people since June 27 in Gaffney, S.C. "Physical evidence" links all three scenes, Blanton said.

Traveling salesmen have been advised to steer clear of Gaffney, as Sheriff Bill Blanton says that the locals in the city of 13,000 are starting to get trigger-happy:
Sheriff Bill Blanton advised traveling salesmen not to knock on doors and asked people who broke down on roads not to ask locals for help because "people are going to start shooting at shadows."

Meanwhile, ammunition sales are soaring.
"We've got guns pretty much everywhere," jewelry store owner Robert Irvin said. "I've got a gun in the truck and I'm carrying a gun right now. ... I'm going to be ready."
