"Right now it appears it was not hostile activity. It appears to be a mechanical malfunction," the spokesman said.

He said the total number of personnel on board the helicopter was seven. The original number killed had been put at five, with two soldiers missing. The remains of those two soldiers were later found, the spokesman said.

this incident took place shortly after midnight,100 km west of Basara. There are 69 helicopter crashes since 2003., 36 0f those were due to enemy fire.

Since flagging this story good stuff I see it has been updated by a staff member and disappeared from the front page please explain Sanjay as I see you have also posted this story some hours after this one!

Yes, a staff member who didn't good stuff this story instead updated it so that  it disappeared from the front page listings, and the staff member then posted the same story on his column several hours after this one was provided.

Another example of this kind of sad thing! You have keen eyes, Vinny, thanks for catching this most recent example.

Oh PEP I'm seeing alot of what you are talking about.  It all started after the "What I like about Now Public" contest.  More so now than before but I got the picture very clear in black and white! Some Editors do what they want doesn't matter if they follow the rules.  They post front page stories of their own when someone else has the same story post before them.  They don't answer your emails for help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When you email them back and ask them did they get your message they don't answer you. I can go on if you like because I'm upset right now over some issues here on NP. Ratings  I don't even want to go there. A certain Editor may think he's cute by deleting my comment from his story, it doesn't matter everybody knows what you did.  Did he say he was a Journalist? Inmature, my 5 year old grandson acts more mature he has aspergers autism.

CJaye--bingo. Several NP members, current and those who've given up, have tracked this kind of behavior, and more, for months now. Make sure you document everything. Save copies of things and screen shots, too.

Let's hope that's what it was. They need to get rid of those old chinooks they've been around since the 60's or longer.  I know they hold alot of people that's the only reason we still use them. You can only maintain things for so long. Thank you for posting

I took Amit's story off the front page because I was under the impression we weren't allowing the same user to have multiple stories in the top 5. Apparently this isn't the case, so I've put it back in rotation.

There was nothing malicious about this, and Sanjay had absolutely nothing to do with it. When I changed it, his story hadn't made into the top 5 and I wasn't aware of it. Also search has been messed up so SJ likely didn't know about this story either.

EVERY THING IS FINE , MY INTENTION WAS TO JUST PUBLISH THE STORY. I EVEN DONT KNOW , I AM ABIDED BY RULES OF THIS WORLD OR NOT, IF NP THINKS BREAKING 5,10 , 15 STORIES IS JUST FOR ATTENTION GATHERING, THEN I WILL NOT DO IT.
