Several Injured In The Ongoing Operation In Mohmand Agency And Adjoining Areas

GHALLANAI: Security forces Tuesday continued artillery shelling in Mohmand Agency targeting the Sagai, Lakarro and Ghazi Abad in tehsil Safi and hideouts of militants in Shno Ghundai, Gulbar Shah Korona, Darwazgai and Ayesha Kor in the disputed area of the Agency in wake of the ongoing operation in the region. Several houses were damaged and cattle perished in the attack. However, no reports of any casualty have been received. Earlier, a head constable, Saeed ur Rehman, was gunned down by the army troops in Subhan Khawar, a town near Shabqadar, on violation of curfew while 9 persons, including 4 women, sustained injuries in random shelling in different areas of the Agency. Four dead bodies of the militants were also recovered from Juma Khan Korona that were killed in the Monday fighting. Security forces occupied a private hospital in Sro Killi during their advancement that was believed to have been used for first aid of Taliban. They also arrested at least 25 persons from Shno Ghundi, Mir Aslam Killi, Ghami Kor and Mosal Kor including Professor Ayaz Khan, head of the Mohmand Resistance Movement, resisting against the Police occupation since 1999. Moreover, migration from Tehsil Safi, Pindiali and Tamanziai area of tehsil Ekka Ghund on mass scale in continued. A large number of women and children can be seen walking along the road due to the closure of Peshawar-Ghandab road that had created manifold troubles for them. Local tribesmen have been protesting against the closure of roads and sustained curfew since the suicide attack on Nehqi check post on October 26.
