Airports are the best place to have a heart attack, and this Olympics, Shanghai is the best place to be a bleeding athlete.

Shanghai has enlisted 2200 blood donors, who are to be ready to be called in at any time of day during the Games to donate their blood for free.

Okay, so we know that sports can be a little rough. But, seriously, will the Olympic football preliminaries be that violent? Is this precaution necessary because the organizers fear that the noble art of football hooliganism will spread to Shanghai when hordes of western football fans descend upon the city? Or are they worried about other kinds of incidents? In any case folks, remember that its not fair to beat someone, just because their team beat your team.

Every minute of every day, someone needs blood. That blood can only come from a volunteer donor, a person like you who takes just a few minutes to donate. There is no substitute for your donation.

my company has a blood drive twice a year. I always participate; although not because I have these altruistic ideals, or that I have O positive blood which always needed, or even because I am in the 1% of the population whose blood goes to newborns, infants, and children.... I do it because it is the right thing to do to and it's relatively easy. sure it hurts a little bit but it also helps someone I don't even know. how cool is that?!

It was a blood donation camp organised by (Ramakrishna Mission Ceylon Branch), 40 Ramakrishna Road, Colombo 6, for the benefit of children and cancer patients. Volunteers and friends of Ramakrishna Mission donated blood.

Visit Ramakrishna Mission Websites for more information.

I did 25+ blood donations and once a stem cell donation for a woman suffering from Leukaemia (see pic & link) the was always only one thought: If I would need a donation and nobody would donate... ...what happens? Do I have to die? So if YOU would like to receive a donation (in case of an acciedent or serious incident like cancer, leukaemia or so) WHY NOT donate while you are healthy??? YOU CAN SAVE LIFEs!!! GO DONATE - you can be a HERO!

I love giving out blood. It makes me feel good! And helps me give back to society easily!
