Iraqi journalist throws shoes at Bush in Baghdad

CNN's Michael Ware reports on President Bush's farewell visit,

during which shoes were hurled at him.
Iraqi journalist throws shoes at Bush in Baghdad

.

.

.

.Bush:" He wanted to say something, I think " (the journalist)

For Iraqis to throw a shoe is the worst insult like the "F"-word

Video footage:
First left shoe flying, Bush no lame duck
reacted excellent, no hit. Second shoe flying, right one,
again Bush quickly reacting no hit. But what does it mean ?

The CNN reporter explains it: The Iraqi journalist wanted
to express his good bye greetings to Bush:
2 shoes =  2 times "..uck you" Mr. president.
As we see Bush can understand this,
is happy to go soon around with
a Pickup on his ranch, in Texas
calling home security:
Stop selling shoes this
are flying weapons...

Bush shoe thrower cools his heels in jail

An Iraqi TV reporter who threw his shoes at U.S. President George W. Bush remains in custody while judicial officials decide whether to charge him with assault. His arrest drew angry protests in Baghdad's Sadr City by followers of anti-American cleric Muqtada al-Sadr and calls from his Iraq-owned, Egyptian-based network for his release

poor oligarch

Ah yes, we remember the world rejoicing when the [statue of the] old dictator in Iraq was felled and then slippered repeated. Our TV commentators informed us that in Iraqi civil society this was seen as the ultimate insult.

Great to see the new dictator on the receiving end!

BBC R4 1300 reports 1000's demonstrating in Baghdad for release of the brave journo.

wbsfr8....FREEDOM-LOVING Iraqi journalists did apologize. Well shoes against bombs a fair treatment for Bush...he enjoyed the ride, did not get a single hit. The Iraqis, I think one million died. May be Bush apologizes too, that he feels sorry for the 1 million dead Iraqis.

Shaking the dust off of your feet in protest has been a tradition for more then two thousand years.  Throwing your shoes.. well they slapped Hussain's statue with their shoes.  It must be a progression of sorts.  Next they will make IESD!

<SOLARLIFE>" Well shoes against bombs" -and what of the millions of Saddam's own people he enslaved, tortured and killed, sodomized, gassed and raped? Thank God Almighty that our war against the Taliban happened over there, and NOT ON AMERICAN SOIL. Thank God for an honorable man, this George Bush we elected to 2 terms to help preserve freedom from these beasts. Thank you President Bush, and God Bless and have mercy on America.

wbsfr8....Well shoes against bombs" -and what of the millions of Saddam's own people he enslaved. If the ROW once comes to ask cashback for the S2 trillion robbed from the wealth of the world by US Bush government tolerated sub-prime scam, should we also ?????, no we are civilized and not the messiah of McDO world. But it is true the Ghostbusters should de-slime America after Bush. Thanks for commenting, all comments wellcome and respected. You mentioned , happened not on American soil, but war for petrol and resulting CO2 may trigger America's future now, and new players will come for change.

"Mr. Maliki’s security agents jumped on the man, wrestled him to the floor and hustled him out of the room. They kicked him and beat him until “he was crying like a woman,” said Mohammed Taher, a reporter for Afaq, a television station owned by the Dawa Party, which is led by Mr. Maliki. Mr. Zaidi was then detained on unspecified charges."

"...He [Bush] also called the incident a sign of democracy, saying, “That’s what people do in a free society, draw attention to themselves,” as the man’s screaming could be heard outside.

From the NY Times

It is clear that they need to let the man go. That is just honest dissent - something Bush agrees with (while the man screams outside).

kate....They kicked him and beat him until “he was crying like a woman,” said Mohammed Taher, a reporter. That's the law of desert, or desert storm. The Iraqis want the Americans to leave ASAP 2010/11. Europe has the aftermas of radical leaders brought everywhere in power by US, not understanding how a tribe system is working. We have just to stop it. Problems America has with the future it must solve inside America.

What gets me Solar is when America is non-interventionist we are called separatists and not concerned about the world.  When we do intervene we are told to go home and solve your own problems.. But don't forget to leave your financial Aid behind.  Now, which is it?  Personally I like the idea of regional security.  We have Canada's back and they have ours... We call that Norad (santa watch).

Next time Europe needs American help, maybe we should stay home and solve our own problems.  It would be cheaper for us.  I think Europe should take care of itself from this day forward.  Africans can do the same.  Asia as well.  Heck pull our troops out of every non US Terratory.

I hate war, I enjoy using my extra money to go to a poor  foreign country, like Haiti and do some good.  Much rather help then hurt.  It gets old hearing the world complain no matter what we do.

Politisite, I agree this time you should stay at home for probably 10 - 20 years to clean up the financial mass, that caused the sub-prime scam, more to come from private US based financial mobsters $50bn would be one week in Iraq. Don't give Europe the advice to take care of itsself. It did it already and stopped 2 times McCain sponsored war in Georgia to cover up US financial crisis with a world war III tour in your beloved Europe to kill the Euro currency, so a Dollar would be a Dollar, even bancrupt.  Bush/Cheny-oil private Dubai company tried in a last attempt a fast track (no procedure why? who's coward idea was this ?) to membership Georgia into NATO 2 weeks ago. The russian warships have been already in Venezuela, so this time you get the war in front of your housedoor. The Europeans with leading rotating president Sarkozy stopped that nonsense in a diplomatic no to Georgia scam, and started the official investigation, who started the war in Georgia. The times for US war games are over, bad times for Lockheed and Carlyle military industry. Now comes change to do the homework in the US or you go for the 20 years collecting alms. We, who always supported US will not ruin our countries for dying US-OIL national capitalism.
