Students and faculty are staying locked inside dorm rooms and classrooms as police comb Western Kentucky University's campus after shots were reportedly fired.
School officials sent out a text stating to stay indoors and shots had been fired, rumours were flying around regarding a group of armed gunmen, but none of that has been confirmed.
Around 12:30 p.m., school officials sent out the following text alert: "Shots fired near Pearce Ford Tower. Seek shelter immediately."Bowling Green police have confirmed reports of shots fired on WKU's main campus at Pearce Ford Tower.James Williams said that he got the following text message from his daughter at 1:37 p.m.: "Stay away from south campus because armed men are running around campus. All students have been moved to the main campus."
