When America suffers a set back, the entire world faces these shocks. If america shivers or suffers, the entire world too suffers. The recent downturn in American economy has equally affected the nations across the world. However some nations hate america, America continues to be the global super power and the American dollar continues to be the reserve currency of the world. It is good that after a long spell of doom and gloom, one can see the signs of economic recovery and return of confidence in dollar. It is due to the American effect that the Gold prices sky rocketed and again it is due to the signs of recovery that the world is one again placing its confidence and trust on the dollar. The recent tumbling of Gold prices after peaking is a clear sign of good things to come for the Americans and the world at large.

God bless America.

A recovery of America requires a new type of America on the world stage.  Massive debt, and beating the military drums....I think is the trouble.  I wonder why Obama spends so much for the milkitaty but nothing for people needing jobs?

I too feel that American spending priorities need to change keeping in view the changed global scene where american enemies like terrorism are common to the entire world unlike in the past cold war era. Obama needs evolve strategies that place lesser reliance on military means to achieve goals and help the resolution of global conflicts in a fair manner so that the savings can be diverted to create jobs and create conditions for peace. The cost of peace appear to be small compared to the cost of facing the threat of wars or common global concerns like terrorism.

It is the poverty, lack of opportunities, lack of development  that has led  to problems like covert support to terrorists. Instead of spending huge funds on preparations to face terrorist threats some portion of funds need to be spent on creating jobs, development and creating opportunities. This will bring a permanent change in the mindset of many.
